Just because trees get really tall does not mean we let them be. Pruning is a healthy maintenance service that needs to be done regularly, and by professionals. As you can see, these EWPs can be dangerous to work with, and operators of EWPs need special training and knowledge, as well as a high risk work licence.
Using EWPs
Our EWPs are a helpful resource for professional arborists to access trees. There are many factors to consider when using these machines.
We have to check the surrounding areas for obstacles and infrastructures such as electrical lines or water and gas pipes etc. EWPs need a solid, firm and level terrain to remain stable. We even need to consider natural factors. Windy conditions are not ideal, and part of our work is to be highly observant of any wildlife around the trees e.g. wasps or bees that could pose a danger.
Why prune?
Pruning is necessary for several reasons. Sometimes it is to improve the aesthetics of the surroundings. Pruning can also encourage better natural growth. You will also notice if you walk past the same area that has been pruned, that there is more natural light coming in where the excess greenery has been trimmed. We also get requests from clients who are concerned overgrowing branches could pose a danger, and sometimes trees can also encroach into neighbouring properties.
